Self-awareness and Kata for Teams

Exciting day at Syracuse’s Innovation Tech High School delivering one of the New World of Work‘s Top 10 Skills: SELF-AWARENESS.

Students learned about different characteristics such as Introversion/Extroversion, Sensing/Intuition, Feeling/Thinking and Judging/Perceiving. With this awareness, students experience the strengths of working in diverse teams comprised of others that have different characteristics.

We followed up with introducing Toyota’s Improvement Kata and used the Kata in the Classroom exercise to apply their own newly developing Self-Awareness to work more effectively in their small teams to achieve their Target Conditions.

It was a full day leaving students with a lot to think about and for teachers to continue building upon in the days to come.

Thanks to TDO for the connection to make this opportunity happen, and to Bill Berthel for joining in the fun!
